In 2025, Advokatbyrån Gulliksson and Ström & Gulliksson proudly celebrate 50 years of successfully shaping and supporting innovation. Since 1975, our firms have been dedicated to safeguarding ideas, driving commercialization, and providing strategic counsel for businesses, entrepreneurs, creators and partners alike.

Ström & Gulliksson (now Ström & Gulliksson AB and Advokatbyrån Gulliksson AB) is founded - a Swedish firm focusing on intellectual property rights

Ström & Gulliksson was founded by Tore Ström and Jonas Gulliksson as a patent- and legal firm. The business concept from the start was to integrate business law and intellectual property law with patent law in order to offer a complete and distinctive business service. In November 1975, Kerstin Jonsson became the company's first secretary and the following year Christina Cedergren (formerly Ström), daughter of founder Tore, was hired. It all started in the house in the picture but pretty soon that year, larger premises were needed and the company moved to Rundelsgatan in Malmö.

Ström & Gulliksson (now Ström & Gulliksson AB and Advokatbyrån Gulliksson AB) opened an office in Hansacompagniet (formerly NK), on Stora Nygatan in central Malmö.

Next stop, Helsingborg!

We opened an office in Helsingborg, which was later integrated into our office in Lund.

History is made

When Gulliksson was granted membership of the Swedish Bar Association, we became Advokatbyrån Ström & Gulliksson - and made history. We became the first law firm in Sweden to bring together both lawyers and patent engineers under one roof.

With this unique combination, we were able to offer a full range of services in intellectual property law, where law and technology meet to create stronger protection and greater value for our clients. A pioneering idea that still permeates our work today.

Advokatbyrån Ström & Gulliksson opened offices in Lund

With many clients established in Lund and the proximity to the strategically important Ideon area, it was a natural step for Gulliksson to expand from Malmö to Lund. Our first office was in Edison Park, but in 2013 we set our sights on greater heights and moved into floors 17 and 18 of Ideon Gateway - an iconic place for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Gulliksson becomes a separate company

In 2001, Gulliksson was transferred to a separate company, Advokatbyrån Gulliksson. The collaboration between the two companies has continued ever since, and as a client of Gulliksson you can benefit from our long-standing collaboration and complementary skills and roles.

Next stop, Stockholm!

Over time, the business continued to flourish in southern Sweden, and at the same time, the dream of reaching even more companies and entrepreneurs around the country grew. Demand from the northern regions was growing - and Gulliksson saw the opportunity to meet it. The decision was obvious: it was time to take the next big step. With the vision of being a present and innovative partner all over Sweden, Gulliksson opened its offices in Stockholm - a milestone that marked the start of a new, exciting phase in the firm's journey!

True partnership

As of 2008, the business continues to operate in the form of a true partnership. The company was initially run by the partners Jonas Gulliksson, Hans-Anders Odh, Per Svärd, Jens Olsson, Mikael Karlsson and Mattias Malmstedt. Of the original partners, Hans-Anders, Per Svärd and Jens Olsson are still active as partners. The law firm is expanding its operations and now provides full service in the field of business law.

What’s new? Bankruptcy administration

Gulliksson now decides to further expand its activities in bankruptcy administration. Two experienced attorneys and bankruptcy administrators join the firm and it is the start of the firm's development of bankruptcy administration.

Time to move

After many years in central Malmö, in our premises in Hansacompagniet, it was time to grow and take our place in Malmö's future. With the ambition to continue to lead the development of the city's business community, we moved our Malmö office to Glasvasen - a modern and strategic address, perfectly located right by Malmö Central Station.

Next stop, Gothenburg!

After many successful years with offices in Malmö, Lund and Stockholm, we now took the next step in our growth journey. Gothenburg was a natural choice for our expansion - a city with strong drive and innovation.

With offices in four locations, we are still the same committed company, where collaboration and close cooperation between our offices create value for our clients wherever they are.

A New Era for Intellectual Property Protection: Introducing the Unified Patent Court

June 1, 2023 marks an important event in the European patent system when the Unified Patent Court (UPC) opens its doors and offers a platform for individuals to file key claims against potential patent infringements or seek invalidation of European patents. The law firm has several lawyers authorized to handle patent disputes before UPC courts, so-called “Registered representatives before the UPC”. The first Swedish UPC case was filed and conducted by Advokatbyrån Gulliksson.

Together with Ström & Gulliksson, who has expertise in all major technical disciplines, we stand ready to continue supporting our clients in enforcing and protecting their intellectual property rights across Europe.
